A major dispute has been brewing between Mexico and the United States. I'm not talking about open border concerns and efforts to stop illegal immigrants crossing from Mexico into the US. This dispute has to do with Mexico's efforts to stop genetically modified (GM) corn crossing from the US into Mexico. This effort has triggered a trade dispute between the US, Canada, and Mexico. The key question is whether GM corn poses a threat to human health. US and Canadian trade representatives argue it does not and want to force GM corn into Mexico. Given that GM seed is used in 90% of US crops, the dispute could have long-lasting effects on whoever loses. 

In late October 2024, a biotech boondoggle closed its doors. On page 25 of my book (chapter 4), I document the details of AquaBounty's "The Superfish." Just four years after its first harvest of genetically modified (GM) Atlantic salmon in Canada, the US-based company is selling its GM fish factory there. Federal and provincial governments invested over $8 million in the company through grants and loans.

Dr. John Campbell overviews an amazing study on YouTube. It involves a Chinese study conducted in 2021 that details the effect Ivermectin (IVM) has on regulating apoptosis (programmed cell death) and fighting cancer. Many medical doctors are aware that IVM fights parasitic diseases like river blindness, elephantiasis, scabies, and malaria. Some are aware of how IVM fights  viruses (dengue, ebola, flavivirus, and COVID-19). But few are aware of how potent it is against cancer. The discoverers of IVM, Japanese scientists Satoshi Omura and Irish scientist William C. Campbell, won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2015. 

Two new studies on vitamin D dosing, conducted by Intermountain Health, were presented at the American Heart Association's 2023 Scientific Sessions. Both studies concluded that current vitamin D recommendation levels appear to be too low for healthy heart protection. Vitamin D is called the sunshine vitamin because the best source comes from skin exposure to the sun. ​When your skin is exposed to sunlight, it makes vitamin D from cholesterol. The sun's ultraviolet B (UVB) rays hit cholesterol in the skin cells, providing the energy for vitamin D synthesis to occur. The current recommended dietary allowance (RDA) for vitamin D is 600 International Units (IU) (equivalent to 15 micrograms—mcg) for adults under the age of 70. The recommendation is 800 IU (20 mcg) for adults older than 70. Researchers noted that achieving therapeutic levels of vitamin D took time. It took 3 months of high dosing for 65% of the participants to reach optimal levels (40 nanograms per milliliter) and 6 months for 25% of the participants to get there.
