What About Caffeine?

​I came across an article that scientifically documented over 20 harmful effects of caffeine. I've always advocated drinking water as the beverage of choice. Our bodies are 65 percent water. Pure, clean water is the best liquid for our bodies to run on. Adding sugar, caffeine, and other drug-like compounds to what we drink stresses our kidneys, liver, heart, and endocrine system. Even drinking decaffeinated coffee where 97% of the caffeine has been removed is not the perfect solution.

High energy drinks have an amazing amount of caffeine (see the Wellness Support Group webinar on Energy Drinks).

The sale of drinks like coffee, sodas, energy drinks, and sports drinks is a multi-billion dollar industry. Water is essentially free and it flushes toxins out from the body. It lubricates and refreshes our body systems. It seems to me that it makes the most health and financial sense to stay with water. As usual, Larry, you provide valuable food for thought... while I enjoy a delicious cappuccino!
As a therapist, I see the value of caffeine as a perfectly acceptable remedy... when the body can use it!
Too much caffeine is simply deleterious to the health. 'Too much' can be 1 cup or 20 cups, depending on the individual.
So, caffeine is both a medicine and poison.
Water! Yes, I fully agree, but would write 'at least 65 percent'. The numbers differ.
BUT... what about the QUALITY of water? This is a huge subject, but it's clear that bottled water is full of nano-plastic and is all too often simply tap water.
And in many parts of the USA and in many countries, tap water is simply too unhealthy to drink.
A multi-step filter including an osmosis membrane, plumbed in to utilise mains water pressure, is the only sane solution these days, as well as being a valuable investment.

Caffeine--I dont drink energy drinks or coffee and try to stay away from anything that is habit forming, but sometimes a little caffeine is needed especially if I am sleepy when driving. I fell asleep a couple of times with nothing bad happening and feel that taking a 1/2 pill of caffeine is not as dangerous as falling asleep at the wheel. I also use it occasionally when it is very important to be alert. By not using it a lot I am not addicted to it and therefore it doesnt take much to make a big difference. I also drink distilled filtered water I buy by the 5 gallon jugs so it is good water and cheap and no throw away plastic bottles.
