Recently I listened to an expert on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) share her 20-year experience as an authorized Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety and compliance professional. Tammy K. Herrema Clark is the expert who tells medical professionals what technical specifications are needed as far as masks, respirators, and clean rooms go. In our current environment, when many states are mandating the wearing of masks, it seems prudent to hear from an expert in this field.
The urge to sleep is due to the Circadian Rhythm which is an internal 24-hour and 15-minute clock. It is called the suprachiasmatic nucleus and is located in the middle of your brain. It consists of 20,000 brain cells connected to optic nerves in your eyes and is reset by sunlight every day. It also coordinates core body temperature fluctuations. Core temperature is higher during the day while you are awake. It lowers as you get ready to sleep and is at its lowest during sleep.
I'm indebted to Penny who shared a link leading me to this very important information. Dr. Richard Bartlett is a medical doctor in Texas who is having remarkable success helping his patients with COVID-19. Normally, half of the people diagnosed with coronavirus have no symptoms. The other 50% have symptoms but only 20% become seriously ill and require treatment. Early medical treatment approaches prescribed pain relief for headache and fever. Patients were sent home to self-monitor the situation until things got better or more severe. Those who came back with severe cases were more at risk of dying. Dr. Bartlett discovered that if he could intervene early with more preventive treatment, his patients never developed severe cases. Because his treatment was so successful, he sent the procedure up the chain to medical authorities, Senator Ted Cruz and other politicians so he could get the word out.
Dr. Marc Seigel recently clarified what was being widely reported by the media concerning alarming increases in COVID-19 cases (40,000 in one day!). The media reported troubling news that the coronavirus was spreading throughout the southern and western parts of the United States. Florida, Texas, California, Arizona, and Utah were experiencing frightening spikes in the number of cases being reported. State leaders were concerned and began curtailing reopening plans. Local governments began threatening to mandate masks and social distancing as Dr. Fauci estimated an epidemic of 100,000 new cases a day could occur. However, Dr. Seigel stated that what was not being widely reported was the way these numbers were being counted. It was dishonest and it was being politicized.
